Professor Robert Brown
MDes, BA (Hons), FCSD, FRSA, MIPEM
Professor Robert Brown is Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research), and he is Director of Design Wales, a pan-Wales advisory service, funded by the Welsh Assembly Government.
His previous UWIC roles have included Director of the National Centre for Product Design & Development Research (PDR), which he established in 1994, Director of the Manufacturing Advisory Service Cymru (MAS Cymru), Dean of Faculty of Art, Design & Engineering; and he was Director of Rehabilitation Engineering at Brunel Institute for Bioengineering, Brunel University.
Robert has responsibility for strategic planning as well as all research and enterprise activities. UWIC has developed a clear and distinctive role in the UK HE sector through its programmes of applied research and knowledge transfer. In particular, UWIC is recognised for the close partnerships it has developed with industry, commerce and professions.
Post-graduate research in product design and development was undertaken at the Royal College of Art, London. Current research interests include the strategic role of product development in SMEs, the integration of CADCAM in product design and development and innovation capture and management in new product development.
