Aims.

During this unit, you will be introduced to stress management.

Specifically, at the end of this unit you will be able to:

  • Evaluate the role of psychology in managing stress.
  • Evaluate the process of progressive muscle relaxation and autogenic muscle relaxation.
  • Explore other methods for relieving stress. 
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of stress management programmes in reducing stress induced health problems. 

In order to complete this unit, you should have the following:

  • Access to the introductory chapter of a good health psychology text-book. For example Ogden (2004).
