This unit aims to present the explanations that have been proposed for the link between social class and health. By the end of this unit you should be able to:

• Explain the artefact, social selection, behavioural and materialist explanations for the link between social class and health.
• Evaluate each of these proposals.
• Evaluate the role of health care professionals when exploring the link between class and health.
