In this unit on racism you will consider the meaning and implications of racism for society in general and the health service in particular. At the end of this unit you will be able to:

• Define racism;
• Recognise the consequences of racism for people from ethnic minorities

In order to complete this unit, you should have the following:

• Your brain!
• Ideally, Ethnicity, race and health in multicultural societies by Bhopal 2007.  Or alternatively a sociology of health text book (such as the one by Scambler, 2003).
