The evidence presented so far suggests that there may be a difference between
the sexes in terms of their health. Men tend to die earlier, but women tend to
have more illnesses than men. This unit aims to explore this difference
attempting to explain why there may be a difference in health. In
particular you will:
- Explore whether genetic differences can account for the differences in
morbidity and mortality.
- Evaluate the social and psychological explanations for the differences in
health status.
- Evaluate the role of health psychology in reducing these inequalities in
health.
