During this unit you will consider why ethnic background is related to health. In order to do this we will utilise the extensive literature on ethnicity and health. At the end of this unit you will be able to:

• Recognise the problems with assigning ethnicity
• Understand and evaluate explanations for ethnic differences in health
  

In order to complete this unit, you should have the following:

• Your brain!
• A sociology of health text book (such as the one by Scambler, 2003).
