The UK HE sector is one of constant change. In order to maximise
and maintain effectiveness, it is important universities
establish the mechanisms to remain abreast of technological and
pedagogical developments.
The LTDU Observatory identifies and evaluates emerging
technologies and learning theories. Specifically, the
Observatory:
* isolates emerging technologies and modes of delivery that
could potentially assist UWIC in meeting its strategic
objectives;
* is active in seeking to secure external relationships and
funded research (JISC, HE Academy) in order to remain abreast of
change;
* provides updates on these developments through strategic
reports, workshops, LTDU conference and web page content;
* guides and advises on potential pilot L&T projects and
initiatives;
* liaises with UWIC stakeholders (Disability Services,
Facilities and ISD) to ensure the piloting, embedding and
delivery of emerging technologies.
